Founded 45 years ago, thousands of people with disabilities have enjoyed a memorable and fulfilling holiday away from their everyday life. To many, it is what they spend the whole year looking forward to. If you know someone who has a disability, you will understand just what a 3H holiday could mean to them. Our grants programme assists families on a low income who have a family member with disabilities, to organise their own UK holiday. The grants are given for the accommodation part of the holiday and are paid directly to the chosen venue. The charity liaise with social workers and caring organisations to assist applicants and to identify those needing assistance. Carers can also be awarded a grant for a holiday away from their caring role. The 3H carers programme enables carers to spend a day at Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Park in Forest Row, East Sussex. Surrounded by the Ashdown Forest, the hotel offers relaxing treatments and therapies. The carers pamper day package includes: • Welcome soft drink • One 60 minute treatment • 2 course lunch • Use of the spa swimming pool • Afternoon tea.  3H organise subsidised group holidays for people with disabilities. Hereby giving their day-to-day carers a valuable period of respite at the same time. Many people with disabilities have thought that it was just not possible to get away independently but with our experience in organising accommodation, transport and activities, 3H can make it happen. Having Care Quality Commission registration, guests can be assured that our team of holiday leaders, experienced volunteers and medics will support and meet their care needs. The activity holidays may include Abseiling, Climbing, Canoeing, Horse Riding, Sailing and Zip Wiring. The evening activities give time for guests to socialise and make new friends. Our TeensOut programme enables existing organisations to continue their good work supporting teenagers who may be socially isolated due to their disability or their caring duties. 3H provides much needed funding to ensure clubs and groups are able to continue providing respite care during the school holidays and are given opportunities to try new activities.

The Barn Owl Trust is a small national charity working to conserve one of the world's most beautiful birds. In recent years Barn Owls have become increasingly rare, the reasons are all man-made. Our small but dedicated team of staff visit sites to erect nestboxes, advise on habitat creation and respond to planning applications. We research the causes of decline and make recommendations for policy changes. We are a grass-roots organisation and pride ourselves on the amount of practical work we do. We can also respond to nationwide enquiries by phone or e-mail. Your donation or legacy to the Trust will really help us make a world of difference.

We are the leading National NGO solely devoted to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely. Bats are unique and play a vital role in our environment but during the last century bat populations suffered severe declines. We are working to secure the future of bats in our ever changing world by tackling the threats to bats, from persecution to loss of roosts and changing land use. Since 1991 the Bat Conservation Trust has run a diverse range of projects to conserve bat populations. We are part of one of the most successful conservation movements in the world, supported by a network of members, volunteers, academics and professionals. Bats are now protected by law in Europe, and in the UK some species may already be benefiting from the positive effects of conservation, but we have a long way to go to achieve our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

Our role is to help medical science understand the causes of dementia, find ways of diagnosing it earlier and more accurately, and develop more effective treatments. Ultimately, we want to help science beat dementia. We raise funds through voluntary donations, sponsorship, legacies and fundraising events. We spend that money by supporting research at universities in the West of England and South Wales. All the research we support has been peer reviewed and assessed by a committee that includes senior scientists.

The British Polio Fellowship (BPF) is a charity organisation dedicated to helping an estimated 120,000 people around the UK who suffer from polio and the later effects of Polio known as Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS). Polio is a neurological condition that can cause a number of unpleasant symptoms like joint pain, breathing problems, walking impairment and many more. The British Polio Fellowship's role is to help give much needed support both in the form of advice and financial aid to those who are left living with the later effects of Polio and/or have a developing condition. Polio makes life hard for anybody who suffers from it which is why the work the Fellowship does is so important. The Fellowship also organises social events such as PPS Day where people who suffer from Polio can talk with other people who have the condition as well as attend first hand presentations and workshops from the Fellowship staff. Many people today assume that Polio has been "eradicated" from Britain and the West in general but they fail to see that there are still people alive today who suffer from the terrible effects of it, effects they have had to live with for the majority of their lives. This is why the British Polio Fellowship slogan is "120,000 reasons why we are here" There are 120,000 people in the UK who need help and support.

‘If we and the rest of the back-boned animals were to disappear overnight, the rest of the world would get on pretty well. But if the invertebrates were to disappear, the world’s ecosystems would collapse.’ Sir David Attenborough Buglife is the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates. We’re actively working to save Britain’s rarest little animals, everything from bees to beetles, worms to woodlice and jumping spiders to jellyfish. Buglife’s aim is to halt the extinction of invertebrate species and to achieve sustainable populations of invertebrates. We are working hard to achieve this through: – Promoting the environmental importance of invertebrates and raising awareness about the challenges to their survival. – Assisting in the development of legislation and policy that will ensure the conservation of invertebrates. – Developing and disseminating knowledge about how to conserve invertebrates. – Encouraging and supporting invertebrate conservation initiatives by other organisations in the UK, Europe and worldwide. – Undertaking practical conservation projects that will contribute to achieving our aim.

Building Heroes was formed in 2013 with the vision of providing free construction skills, employability training and work experience to military veterans. It is estimated there are 120,000 unemployed veterans of working age in the UK today, and a skills shortage of 230,000 within the building trades. The Building Heroes programme aims to bridge that gap, providing veterans with the technical skills they need to transition into a second career. Our five week Foundation in Property Maintenance programme is available to all service leavers, and covers a range of building skills (carpentry, brickwork, tiling, painting and decorating), the Level 1 Health and Safety in the Construction Environment, and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card; this is a pre-requisite for employment in the construction trade. Alongside this they are provided with employability skills such as CV writing, interview techniques and/or self-employment guidance as appropriate to their needs and aspirations. During the programmes, BHEF works with each trainee to identify the next steps for that individual; this may be progression into employment, self-employment, further training or an apprenticeship, according to need. We aim to support a high percentage of our graduates into employment or self-employment within three months of leaving our programme. Building Heroes relies on the generous donations of individuals and companies to fund delivery of these courses.

CRY aims to rescue and restore children and young people broken by poverty, oppression, exclusion and abuse. We set up projects that provide for the most basic needs - food, water, shelter, education - in some of the poorest nations in the world. But we recognise we can't do that on our own, so we train and support local people and churches to run the projects, using their knowledge to make the projects sustainable for the long-term. Founded in 1992 by Martyn Dunsford, CRY now works in around 20 different nations, and over its history has raised over £4,000,000 for the projects it has worked on.

Our vision is to make sure carers are identified, recognised, valued, respected and supported in their caring role. Carers Support Centre is an independent registered charity, established in 1997. We have more than 12,000 local carers registered with us and deliver our services with 40 (full time equivalent) members of staff and over 170 volunteers. Our range of services includes a confidential telephone information and advice line, carers’ magazine, Carers Emergency Card, one-to-one casework support, carers’ groups, activities for carers to take time out, regular breaks and training courses. We also work to identify and support carers in hospital and GP settings through our health team and support carers to get into – and stay in – employment. We are managed by a board of trustees who bring experience in operational and financial management and marketing at a senior level. Most of the trustees became involved because of their own experience of being carers. We have attained Level 2 Trusted Charity Mark status. Carers Support Centre is a network partner of Carers Trust, benefiting from being able to share good practice with a network of over 160 partners throughout the UK. The Centre for Policy on Ageing, established in 1947 by the Nuffield Foundation, has a long and distinguished record as an independent charity promoting the interests of older people through research, policy analysis and the dissemination of information. The Centre aims to raise awareness of issues around all aspects of ageing and to support good practice. Its overarching focus is to discover and advocate what older people themselves want and need. An important and unique aspect of the Centre’s work is to act as a hub to encourage the creative exchange of thinking and information on ageing issues. A key element of this work is making knowledge on ageing issues widely accessible to share learning and underpin policy initiatives to support older people. CPA collaborates with national and local government, practitioners, the academic community, voluntary groups and older people to sustain a network of learning around ageing.

Chance for Childhood is an award-winning charity working in Africa to support the most vulnerable children, such as street children, disabled children, children affected by conflict and kids behind bars. Our vision is of a world where no child is forgotten! We work with and strengthen the capacity of African visionary community leaders to implement effective, locally-relevant projects. This enables us to focus on ‘hard to reach’ children, both in terms of their complex needs (e.g. street children with learning difficulties) and location (e.g. urban violent slums or remote rural areas). Together we make ideas and impact both sustainable and scalable to protect, educate and empower even more of the world’s most disadvantaged children.

The Charity was formed in 1992. Our mission statement is: “Helping the children and families of Belarus and Ukraine suffering from the after-effects of the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 and the ongoing adverse economic situation”. All of CCLL’s work is relative to the after effects of the Chernobyl Disaster which incorporates the countries of Belarus and Ukraine. There are only 3 paid members of staff and over 2,700 volunteers involved across the UK. We aim to give everyone an opportunity to be part of our team and know where and how to donations are spent. We are not receiving any government grants and rely on donations from kind public. The charity brought over 56,000 children to the UK so far for health recuperative visits with UK volunteer shot families. A large number of community development, medical, welfare and other type of projects were delivered in Belarus and Ukraine helping children's cancer units, children’s orphanages, social shelters, centers for children with special needs and many other.

Cherry Trees is a small Surrey based charity, providing home from home specialist short breaks for children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of disabilities including learning, physical and sensory impairments. We provide high quality services within a relaxed, caring environment. Cherry Trees fulfills a critical service in addressing the needs of the children and parents it supports and is a lifeline for the families of more than 100 children and young people who are regularly cared for here. We recognise that children are best looked after at home, however because of the complex needs of many of our children, they require very specialist care. Cherry Trees provides professional care in a safe loving environment, where every child is valued for who they are and also provides a welcome break for their families. Cherry Trees aims to be a model of excellence in respite care/short breaks for children and young adults with physical, learning and sensory disabilities. We are dedicated to providing high quality respite care to children in a relaxed and caring setting Cherry Trees aims to grow from strength to strength in terms of the service it provides and is committed to increasing its capacity and range of services and facilities offered. As the pressure on our parents is increasing, we see it as part of our strategic remit to not only provide respite care but also to provide advice and support on broader issues. Our objectives are to reach out to as many families as possible, to help prevent family breakdown, enable young people to progress and for families to be fully integrated in the local community.

We are the largest UK charity working exclusively in Colombia. We work with children and their families to challenge poverty, inequality, discrimination and violence. Despite a growing economy and prospects of an end to the long-running conflict, millions of children still face poverty, violence and exclusion from the opportunities presented by a changing society. So whether they are threatened by forced displacement, sexual exploitation or recruitment into armed groups, whether denied education, a loving family or a place to play, we work to ensure that every child can claim their right to a safe and happy childhood and a fulfilling future.

Church Homeless Trust is a small charity that receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on donations. We help homeless people of all ages, faiths, and nationalities to rebuild their lives with support grants that meet their individual needs. The more tools they are given to be independent, the less chance they have of returning to homelessness. We fund the training, items, activities, counselling and skills people need to rediscover their sense of purpose and feel part of society again. The grants are small, usually between £50 and £300, but to people who have nothing they mean a second chance. They change lives.

Contact the Elderly is the only national charity solely dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people through face to face contact. Supported by a network of thousands of volunteers, the charity organises free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over, who live alone. Offering a regular and vital friendship link every month, each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host’s home for the afternoon. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the drivers remain the same which means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship. Our tea parties are a real lifeline of friendship for our older guests who have little or no contact with family or friends. They bring people of all ages together, develop fulfilling friendships and support networks, and give everyone involved something to look forward to each month.

We operate a home for life (Casa Lumina) for 23 orphaned special needs young adults in Comanesti, Romania and we operate a multi-disciplinary community palliative care service for children and young adults (Hospice Casa Albert) in Luncani, Romania. Who Benefits: (a) The 23 young adults resident at Casa Lumina continue to be the primary beneficiaries of the work and financial support provided by CITD. However, the local community of Comanesti have also benefitted directly by the provision of local employment and through the education of children and the local community in aspects of social care, (b) Through our multi-disciplinary team at Hospice Casa Albert 85 children were in receipt of palliative care services and they and their families also received counselling, education and advocacy. A day care facility at the hospice also provided respite. Staff have also been supported in their continuing professional development, (c) Through a programme of planned visits to Romania from the UK, CITD continued to offer an opportunity for over 100 people to engage practically and spiritually with our two projects, to undertake building modifications, engage with the children and young people in social and therapeutic activities and to support local staff.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis for everyone affected by the condition. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a life unlimited for everyone affected by cystic fibrosis. Our mission is to create a world where being born with CF no longer means a lifelong burden of care and an early death, when everyone living with the condition will be able to look forward to a long, healthy life. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting condition that makes it difficult to breathe, causes vulnerability to infection and restricts your ability to fulfil your ambitions.

Medication, physiotherapy and general health all have to be taken into account when planning the simplest activity, and being unwell frequently interferes with work and education. But we're fighting to overcome all those hurdles – and more! ‘Unlimited’ means: • being able to breathe freely • no more fear of picking up deadly bugs from other people with cystic fibrosis • having the same opportunities as everyone else • spontaneity: being able to do what you want, when you want and not being constrained by appointments, insurance or medication • being able to attend school, college and university and getting the grades you deserve • being able to make the choices you want to make and living your own life to the full Unlimited means everyone with CF being able to live a long, healthy life, and taking control of their destiny.

Daytrippers is a charity supporting disabled and terminally ill children and young people throughout the UK. We do this by funding days out and organising bespoke, inclusive events. Our aim is to ensure that children and young people have opportunities to enjoy, improve their confidence and break boundaries through social, recreational and educational activities. We work in two ways: • Funding Day Trips: We run a grants programme to assist special schools, children's hospices, charities and support groups across the UK who are planning a group day trip. • Host Events: We host free events specifically designed for families, support groups and schools which are fun, imaginative, inclusive and safe. A wide variety of events are offered such as interactive performances, experiential learning and team building days, inclusive sports events, and sensory play with sound and light. We host ten events per year, mostly in London.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of genetic skin conditions that cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. Those born with EB have skin so fragile they are called 'butterfly children' – their skin is quite simply as fragile as the wing of a butterfly. There is currently no known cure for EB. At DEBRA, our work is focused on funding research to change this, while also supporting people living with EB to enhance their quality of life through improved healthcare, access to information and respite care.

Depaul UK helps young people who are homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged. We are passionate about what we do, working in the very heart of local communities. We protect young people who become homeless by finding them a place to call their home. Each year we provide over 100,000 bed nights and we are open every day and night. We prevent young people from being homeless by rebuilding family relationships and offering through the gate support to young offenders. We provide young people with the chance to fulfil their potential in the community through education, volunteering, training and jobs. Since we started in 1989, we've made a difference to over 45,000 young people.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is one of 47 local Wildlife Trusts around the UK working to promote and protect local wildlife. It covers the whole of Derbyshire and was founded in 1962 in response to environmental threats to the local countryside, since when it has continued to grow. The Trust is based at Middleton by Wirksworth, on the edge of the Peak District. It is a Registered Charity (Number 222212), supported by more than 14,000 members and over 500 volunteers.[1] The Trust manages nearly 50 Nature Reserves covering over 630 hectares (1,600 acres) throughout the county, from flooded gravel pits in the south to moorland and upland woodland in the north. Fourteen of these are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). The Trust also works with schools, local communities, local authorities, landowners and others to promote and protect the natural environment. Environmental education and workshops are provided at the Avenue Washlands Visitor Centre, the Whistlestop Centre, and the Wildlife Discovery Room at Carsington Water. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust has a 'Living Landscape' approach to nature conservation. By working with local businesses, landowners, communities and individuals on habitat restoration and enhancement projects throughout the county, it is hoped landscape scale conservation will create a healthier environment for wildlife, the local economy and people.
