My Life My Choice is run by and for people with learning disabilities (all 15 of our Trustees have a learning disability) and as well as promoting choice, empowerment and participation, we provide volunteering, training, social and paid work opportunities that combat isolation and lead to more fulfilling lives. We achieve this through running and providing the following activites: Nightclub - a monthly event for over 100 attendees enabling our client group opportunities for a good night out where they can socialise and forge new friendships, Training enterprise - a team of 22 paid trainers with a learning disability who train their peers, inspect services, produce films and raise awareness of learning disability issues with professionals e.g. NHS England, Travel Buddy - adults with a learning disability are trained and paid as Buddies to support their peers to travel independently, Champions - who speak up, act as consultants and build relationships with professionals in order to take part and shape society, 10 monthly Self-advocacy Groups - members meet friends, discuss their lives and gain new knowledge and skills (the groups act as a staging post for members to learn about and access other services within the charity).
